Are the new email notifications working well for you? How can we improve them?

I receive ZERO email notifications for the category I was the very first expert in as JA was being built. ZERO. Get tons of emails for the other cats I'm in, but the one where my educational degree and ongoing certifications are in? Nope. The yahoos who DO get the emails are neither educated or degreed, certified or really have any business there. I know of 2,3 other highly degreed experts who just left JA altogether because of the dingbat answers they found in same cat. I'm thisclose to giving up too. More than a decade here and it's spiraled down to just jibberjabber about quality but as for delivery of quality? Same as my email notifications: Zero

They're a linkage disaster at this time. IT has been notified and we're still waiting for a fix.

the emails either come all at once at 4 am , or sometimes they do not come at all, and sometimes they are coming in fine. I am not sure what would make this happen. But when there is a request made of me by a customer I don't look in my email for it , usually my JA page is open so I would rather see it come there as well. This way if there are problems with emails as there have been lately we can at least see we have been requested but the lock needs to be the same as it is in an email the 15 minutes or it does no good. I would also move those red name requests to the left of the screen under the question itself rather than on the right where it can't be seen if you don't have your window open all the way or another window is open blocking the right side.

The email is slow, and, at times, non-existant. I recently commented in a survey that if I received timely e-mails, the Mods would not be pinging me reminding me that I have a customer waiting. I have entered the site, and, there used to be a yellow highlighted script that told me I have customers waiting. It is not there any more. Same thing with PMs. I have to go to the My Questions tab to see if I have any customers waiting. This issue (the time the customers wait) drives their satisfaction level down, and contributes to them bailing out without accepting. Hopefully, the Pearl launch will address this.

its rubbish....so many questions are gone by the time i get the email....some i dont see them on the question list until they are pending having already been answered.....there has to be a fairer way of doing this.....different email providers run at different speeds.....

The emails should identify which questions are new AND in a category I am an expert in. It does me no good to read dozens of questions I can't answer.

The new e-mail system is spotty at best. It works for replies from customer, but is hit or miss at listing new questions which are on the open question list. An example is garage door openers. Some days there are 10, or more, of these questions, most days none. It is highly unlikely all garage doors wait to malfunction on the same day. But for the e-mail notify it is ALL or NOTHING. Only a software writer, privy to the e-mail notify script, could tell you how to improve it. Try asking the experts in Computer. Be sure to click accept & leave a bonus!

I only use the email notifications when a customer replays, privet message the answer is accepted.
But for this it works vary well -

To slow, before the upgrade I got them almost at the same time they hit the list. Now there is up to a 5 minute delay. To much fluff is dragging them down.

I would like to see emails labeled as they were before this new system was introduced.
You know, new as new, replies as replies, not all as new.
Also having, at least, the new questions stop filling my inbox when I am away or offline, (they used to be that way and the away dialog still states that) fixed.
I made a rule that all question email from JA gets trashed when I am away and deleted when I am offline, I should not need to do this, another immortal JA bug.
Reading through the replies below this is an ongoing issue, one that seems to be as far down the fix it list as it can get, way below some 'New' feature.
Please fix the email system before it totally fails, while we can still communicate with customers. -

Please activate notification emails for chat replies when expert is out of chat. This feature is really helpful, since often customer in few hours or even days.
Also the function of ''My questions'' is not too good. It would be good to see there all of the questions and chats where customer made a last reply in ''My customers waiting'' section, even if they are in expired status. -

Hi there,
The repeat notifications should now be fixed. We did have an issue with emails being sent out over the weekend, but they should be going out as normal now.

Repeat Notifications for questions that have no answers are a little annoying as they add to my junk email. But otherwise I am really happy with the speed with which an email notification is sent for a new question.

The issue with receiving more an email for the same Question more than once, will be fixed in this week's release. Thanks for letting us know about this issue :)

The email notification cloggs up my business email.. I dont use it at all.. because when Im off line, or sleeping I don't get the email of course... when I am on line...I check into JA immediately and take care of any business thats waiting.
Ive tried all the opt out features...and still get many email notices on questions ive long since handled, or that came in while I was sleeping etc.
What I REALLY need is for the PDF file attachment capabilty to work... that would double my accept rate, and give the JA library a big boost. Its been about a year now...now way to post PDF's! now Thats an issue that needs to be addressed, and very profitably all around.
