Please pay us veterinarians better than the new tier system is suggesting
Hello, the new tier system is making me seriously consider whether or not this will be worth my time. Is there anything you can do to show us some respect for the eight plus years of training that we have had in order to be considered an expert? Many customers wait and wait without a response, and I think you're going to lose veterinarians with this new pay system, and the public will be dissatisfied. Please do not devalue us anymore than the public already does in our careers. Let us give our knowledge for the common good but also be rewarded for it. Thank you.

The tiered scheme of payment is laughable. If this continues the veterinary category will be devoid of any competent experts.

I refuse to work for JA as an expert under this new method of compensation. Please reconsider returning to the previous method where pay per question was higher. Until that happens, I'll search elsewhere for opportunities.

Not a vet but also a doctorate degree and it's insulting pay. Silver is "ok" (with volume). ALL categories sound like they are getting underpaid.
But the "algorithm" is pushing everyone down weekly as far a the site can pay less. No one is going to work for a few dollars per question.
I am making slightly more now actually, as long as I can hang onto silver, and I would vote old system any day. The "algorithm" is pushing me to bronze at 40% the silver pay. Can't work for that.

I am a JustAnswer customer and submitted a question to the veterinary category 5 days ago with no response. While searching for an explanation and/or opportunity to file a complaint, I happened upon this website. Please compensate the veterinarians accordingly so there will be someone to help pets that need it desperately. I really like the idea of getting answers on pet health related questions from home during COVID but a 5 day wait is ridiculous.

This tiered pay system is insulting, I would never participate in JA based on this compensation scheme.

The new tier system encourages quantity over quality answers and will ultimately lead to alienating customers as well as the experts it devalues. Over the years, my career positive feedback rating as a JA expert in the veterinary category is 99.7% so I resent not being paid in the highest tier level. It begs asking who actually is in the platinum tier. Moreover, I was already paid for over 90% of the questions I answered prior to this new system. I'm am perfectly content to be paid only for answers that receive a positive rating and/or an indication the customer was satisfied instead of being paid according to some mystery algorithm.
I previously enjoyed working for JA and interacting with clients as well as earning the added income. I refuse to focus simply on the number of questions I can check the answer box to and try to conform to some unknown standard just to make a subpar wage. JA should be most interested in holding on to experts that engage the client and spend time to provide a thorough and thoughtful response. That is what results in repeat business and expert retention. Please reconsider this model. Until it's changed, I won't be participating further and I am sad to say that.

This new payment model has resulted in me earning far less than I was earning. I am not sure what was wrong with the old system, but it likely yielded better answers. Now you have experts snagging every question possible and not only the ones they are most qualified to answer. This has to be leading to less satisfaction on the customer side. Previously I had a very high rate of answers being accepted because I only chose questions that I could provide a quality answer for.
If my 2 cents could be passed up the chain of command, I would vote for a return to the old system. -

I agree. I am a fairly new expert having only joined this year, but even at the pay scale we currently were at, $10 a question for a dog or cat is measly enough, and not having a well-thought-out and explained tier scale that apparently makes it nearly impossible to reach Platinum status to be paid a whopping $11 per question is not worth my time as an expert. If this site would like to continue to have value, I would in turn appreciate being valued by my employers here. As veterinarians we have all gone through extensive schooling, 8 years of arduous study, and the questions here are seldom straightforward or easy to answer, with frequent client and veterinarian back and forth before achieving a true answer. Even then, there are usually many related follow up queries, and it is not uncommon to have to continue responding for a few hours to even over a span of a few days. I feel that our pay scale needs to reflect our value to the community. Perhaps Just Answer needs to require more payment from customers before taking questions, as well as making sure to take a full deposit for that question before sending it to the experts. All these things are easy to do and would benefit both experts as well as the site itself.

I also agree! I know I spend a great deal of time to try and make sure that each customers gets a solid answer and response however, these do take time. I don't feel that it is fair to have the pay cut in half and still be required to give the same thorough answer. We as veterinarians are already devalued in the public eye and we demand better respect with this tiered system and with the public.

I agree 100%. The new tier system and the way in which experts are placed in tiers makes absolutely no sense. It is based on a "computer alogorithm"? Whatever that really means. It seems like it is just a means for Just Answer to pay the experts less. Even if your answers are clear, thought out and empathetic, there is no guarantee you will be placed in platinum. (Which is STILL less than what we were getting paid for, makes no sense whatesover)
Experts everywhere are dissatisfied with the new system. "Tiers" are derogetory, remind me of being back in school, and should really not be used on this platform for professionals site-wide.
Just Answer made a mistake moving to this model, and needs to re-structure this before they lose more experts.

I agree! I am a new Expert to JA starting this summer and based on the new tier system, I don't see myself continuing at half pay! This will rapidly increase wait times and decrease customer satisfaction.
